BLOW TO CELTS' LISBON
HOPES
October 15th 2007 Scott Brown picked up a hamstring injury in Scotland's win over Ukraine on Saturday and will definitely miss the Georgia match on Wednesday. But far worse than that is the prospect of Broony missing not only the Old Firm game at Ibrox this Saturday but more importantly the Champions League match in Lisbon against Benfica the following Wednesday. Any lip-readers who watched Scotland's match on Saturday may have spotted Broony telling his manager exactly how bad his injury was. Celtic will go into the vital Lisbon match in nine days time possibly without the services of Brown, Hartley, Wilson, Doumbe, Pressley, Caldwell, Vennegoor of Hesselink and with Nakamura maybe not 100% fit. Stephen McManus was also injured on Saturday at Hampden and had stitches inserted in a head wound but will otherwise be fit barring any new injuries on Wednesday in Tbilisi. Defeat in Lisbon would severely hamper our Champions League hopes so let's hope that at least some of those players have recovered by then
