POOR SHOW ARTUR
October 22nd 2007 Celtic still sit at the top of the table despite a 3-0 defeat by Rangers at the weekend and all that matters is that they are still there come the end of the season. Given Celtic's injury woes it was hardly a major surprise but if they can manage to keep winning in the SPL until at least some of the players are fit again then that would be a bonus no matter if it's in the manner of last season. Celtic can have no complaints about the defeat as the manager said, if you don't take your chances that's what happens and Rangers took theirs while Celtic didn't. There were some poor performers in the Celts' side but they lose and win as a team, however Nakamura who I didn't think played particularly poorly has in my opinion just never managed to scale the heights against Rangers that he has in many other matches. Nine yellow cards were shown to our players during the game, some merited and some not but the ones shown to the two Scotts meant they could no longer play their normal aggressive game and that had a noticeable effect. In particular, McDonald who could easily have been given a red card had to tread carefully for 85 minutes. Artur Boruc made an arse of himself firstly by getting involved in an incident on the touchline for which he received a yellow card and then at the end when he refused to shake hands with a couple of Rangers players. It's easy to shake the hand of an opponent after a 3-0 win but much harder to do when the tables are turned and sadly Artur wasn't able to bring himself to do it, not what I'd expect of him nor anyone who pulls on a Celtic jersey. The attention now turns once again to the Champions League and a match against Benfica in Lisbon on Wednesday. The Celts tend to lose regularly on away duty in the Champions League and whether or not that will be the case again remains to be seen but I can't see a Celtic victory at all. I also said the same about our home game against Milan so please prove me wrong again Celtic.
