SEVILLE WOULD BE BRILL

December 12th 2007

Celtic blasted four past Falkirk last night but for long spells with the score still at 1-0 the visitors looked dangerous.

Aiden McGeady is fast becoming the new Celtic hero with consistently good performances yet he doesn't please everyone, there are still those moaners who shout abuse at the lad.

Some people just don't realise that when he takes an opponent on there is no guarantee that he will go past him EVERY time.

In some games he will come up against an opponent who will get the better of him for almost the entire match just as it is the case for most defenders who face him.

Jimmy Johnstone was Celtic's greatest ever player but do you think he played brilliantly for ninety minutes every week?

He certainly did not and I can remember many off-days for Jinky but what I don't remember is him getting abuse from his own people for failing to deliver a pinpoint cross every time or go past an opponent.

The was no danger of anyone getting the better of Aiden last night anyway as he rattled in three goals and chalked up another memorable performance to keep most of us in the 54000 (?) crowd happy on a freezing cold night.

Tonight it's the Champions League and it's great to be already through to the last sixteen, all we have to do this week is look out for who might be our opponents at Celtic Park on February 19th/20th.

Celtic will face a group winner at Celtic Park on 19th/20th February and the possibilities are: Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester Utd, Inter, Seville/Arsenal (Seville are favourites to top the group being two points ahead going into the last game).

We can't be drawn against Milan as we have just played them and we can't be drawn against a group runner-up.

Teams from the same country can't be drawn against each other either in the last sixteen.

My personal preference would be a revenge match with Porto or a trip to Seville on March 4th/5th.

Rangers take on Lyon tonight in a match they must not lose at Ibrox but from memory, teams who only need a draw tend not to get them but we shall see.
