NO HENRIK NOW BUT AT
LEAST THE ODDS ARE BETTER
December 22nd 2007 I remember when Henrik Larsson used to be as short as 11/8 to score the first goal in SPL games and we used to think it was Christmas if the bookies offered 9/4 against him doing it in a European game. Well it is almost Christmas though there is no King of Kings any more but we do have a player capable of scoring the first goal, last goal or any goal. Scott McDonald has been first scorer seven times this season and he is a best priced 4/1 with several bookies to repeat that feat. Aiden McGeady is 9/1 and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink 9/2. The way the Celtic defenders are playing at the moment the first scorer could just as easily be an opponent so the fact that Steven Fletcher (who has managed it five times this season) is unavailable for Hibs is a bonus. I would always expect Celtic to win a home SPL match but recent form suggests 1/3 which is the best price available, is not good value for money. The weather will decide what games are on or off today but at this moment I am going for East Fife to win at Stenhousemuir (4/6 with Skybet) and Raith to win at home to Peterhead (4/6 with Hills). Second Division leaders Ross County are 10/11 to win away to second from bottom Brechin City which looks a value bet on paper but I'm put off by the fact Brechin are unbeaten in their last five games and have only lost one home game this season while County have lost two of their last three matches. Maybe best left alone. In England Leeds are too short a price this week but may be worth the 6/5 to win by two goals or more.
