DOD IS GOOD VALUE

February 9th 2008

Celtic are in a situation where they really cannot afford to drop a point and Aberdeen was at one time one of the last places they'd want to visit.

They have done well there in recent times though so should be confident of taking all three points tomorrow.

The last time Aberdeen beat Celtic at Pittodrie was a 2-0 win in 2001 and since then the Bhoys have played there eleven times, winning nine and drawing two.

Scores in the last eleven visits have been 1-3, 1-2, 0-1, 2-2, 1-3, 0-1, 1-3, 1-1, 0-4, 0-1 and 0-2 (the last one being in the cup).

1-3 and 0-1 is a popular score in this fixture and Partybets offer 13/1 for a 3-1 Celtic win while Paddy Power offers 13/2 for 1-0.

As I pointed out last week, Skippy McDonald was a decent price at 4/1 to be a first scorer for the tenth time this season and he delivered the goods once again.

This week he is on offer at 9/2 with Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and William Hill to do it for the eleventh time but there is a doubt about his fitness.

New signing 'Dod' Samaras is 6/1 with Bet365 to score first, very decent odds but there is a doubt whether he will start the match.

The Celts are on offer at 8/13 to win the match.

This week's matches are very tricky particularly in Scottish Division 1 where the division's top four form teams meet.

Queen of the South v St Johnstone and Hamilton v Dunfermline could both end in draws and return around £126 for a tenner double, not something I do but it appears good value for those who fancy it.

Best this week - Celtic (8/13) to win at Aberdeen, Airdrie (5/6) can win at Cowdenbeath, Ross County (8/15) should win at home to Alloa and East Fife (2/5) should not fail at home to Stenhousemuir.

My bets so far for the season
