MAD ARTUR THE TOTALLY
RADGE GOALIE
February 28th 2008 Celtic suffered to a certain extent from the same problem as they did during last week's game against Barcelona in that they just kept on giving the ball away in last night's 2-1 win over Inverness CT. Most of the Celtic players were trying to play passes as if the opponent standing in front of them didn't exist though that did improve slightly in the second half apart from the blunder by Scott Brown. Georgios Samaras started the match in place of the injured Vennegoor of Hesselink but didn't make much of an impression in the first half, often giving the ball away and pulling out of tackles. Samaras improved slightly in the second half and can only get better, he took his goal well and might have had a couple more. Most of the good things Celtic did came unsurprisingly from Aiden McGeady who was certainly the best player on the park by a long way but didn't reach the heights he is capable of. Nakamura also did well at times and managed to set up the first goal. On another night Celtic could have had four or five goals but in the end it was panic stations when Inverness pulled a goal back. Late in the game Artur Boruc was warned by the referee to get a move on at a goal kick so being the mad goalie that he is he started running but he was running on the spot, total loony. Celtic should be able to take care of Hibs at the weekend but only if they cut out the mistakes and keep hold of the ball. The Celts are currently 8/13 to win at Easter Road. *Brechin City are currently listed at 5/6 with Bet365 and 4/5 with Paddy Power to win at home to Alloa on Saturday. City had a terrible start to the season but have made tremendous progress since and although they were beaten for only the second time in their last sixteen games on Tuesday night by league leaders Ross County (a match played in 75mph winds), Brechin are still the league's second best team on current form (last six games). I had anticipated odds of around 4/7 for Brechin so it appears they have marked up the odds on league positions rather than current form and think 5/6 is very good value for a home win.
