FORGET THE LOVE-IN AND
GET RIGHT INTAE THEM
March 4th 2008 Is anyone else fed-up hearing about how good Barcelona are at the moment or is it just me? Barca were excellent at Celtic Park in the way they passed the ball about and the movement of the players but all three goals they scored in Glasgow had a touch of fortune about them. The first was well worked in the build-up but Naylor got a touch on the ball just before Messi actually took the shot and that helped it past Boruc. The second was gifted by Gary Caldwell and the third came about after an unlucky rebound. Certainly two of those goals may have been avoided and who knows, we might have been taking a 2-1 lead into tonight's game having been outplayed in the first leg. After years of watching Celtic 'outplay' Rangers in Old Firm games during their nine-in-a-row spell only to lose to a breakaway goal, I realised that the 'better team' is the one who scores more goals and wins the game regardless of how much possession or how many shots at goal their opponents had. I would settle for being second best as regards shots at goal or passes completed tonight if we can create two chances and take them without conceding a goal. Twice in recent seasons we have gone to Barcelona, defended brilliantly, rode our luck and came away with a draw and on one of those occasions Barca were needing to win the leg by two goals and managed none. A world class performance from Artur Boruc, an 88th minute headed goal from Samaras and a Nakamura free kick in the third minute of stoppage time will sort out our away record big time. Celtic to win 2-0 are 40/1 with Skybet, 90/1 with Paddy Power and 118/1 on Betfair while a 3-2 Celtic win is around 270/1 on Betfair and 80/1 with Betfred. The Celts are 28/1 with Extrabet to reach the last eight.
