YET ANOTHER MUST WIN GAME

March 14th 2008

After slipping up against Dundee United on Wednesday night Celtic can't afford any more dropped points if they are to retain the SPL title.

The mach against Motherwell at Fir Park tomorrow (if it goes ahead) will be played on a surface which you wouldn't even see at a non-league game never mind the SPL.

As a football spectacle it will be a non-event and both teams will have an even chance of winning which will suit the home team no matter what manager Mark McGhee says.

Celtic are on offer at a best price 4/7 with VC Bet which is not great considering the condition of the pitch.

I would settle for a 1-0 Celtic win and that score is widely available at 6/1.

It may be the case that the first goal will come from a set-piece and McManus and Caldwell are 25/1 and 40/1 respectively to score first.

Hinkel often gets himself into scoring positions and is also 40/1.

I'm not sure Nakamura will play given the conditions but he's 10/1 to score first.

Elsewhere, games are becoming more difficult to predict as some teams have nothing left to play for but Queen of the South players will want to show their manager they are worth a starting spot come the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Queens are 6/5 at home to Dunfermline.

Brechin have gone off the boil a bit in their last two games but I think 8/11 is a decent price at home to Queens Park.

The more risky ones are Airdrie 7/5 away to Raith and St Johnstone 13/10 away to Livingston.

Interestingly, Ayr United won 4-2 away to Ross County in midweek and they face each other again at Ayr tomorrow where the home side is around 4/1 on Betfair.
