PUT OFF BY KIOSK BHOY
April 5th 2008 It's yet another must win game for Celtic and I expect Motherwell to provide tough opposition, much tougher than their 12/1 odds would suggest. Mark McGhee's men are favourites to take third place in the SPL ahead of Dundee United so I won't be expecting a runaway victory for the Bhoys today. Many people are looking for a much improved performance and a convincing win but I would settle for a win of any kind, a last minute own goal or whatever. I appeal to all those who will be at the game today not to get on the backs of the players if we are not a goal up after ten minutes, it doesn't happen at away games so why does it happen at home? To those who boo at half-time if the score is 0-0, could you maybe go for your pie around the forty minute mark if it looks like being a goalless first half because I'd like Celtic to win and booing won't help the team achieve that. Talking of half-time pies, I read an article on Celtic Quick News recently about the Celtic Park food kiosks and it reminded me of the time I was in the toilets before the game and a lad in tea-bar uniform came out the cludgie after making a 'deposit' and went straight out the door without washing his hands. We went to the tea-bar and there he was serving behind the counter and since that day I have never bought anything from the kiosk that doesn't come in a sealed wrapper. Please don't let that put you off though, it was around 1997 so he's probably working as a chef in a top restaurant somewhere now. Today's odds are predictably short, 1/5 with William Hill though expekt.com offer 3/10 for a Celtic win. Totesport go 7/1 for a 1-0 win and 11/2 is widely available for 2-0. Scott McDonald and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink are 4/1 to score first while Georgios Samaras is on offer at 9/2. Ladbrokes offer 12/1 Barry Robson while he's as low as 7/1 with Coral and Bet365. Nakamura is 10/1 with Coral and Aiden McGeady is ridiculously short priced at 6/1 with Boylesports but 9/1 with Blue Square. As the season nears its end there are fewer opportunities to make money because some teams have nothing to play for and others can start to crack under pressure therefore I am calling it a day for this season as far as betting goes. For those who simply can't stop then Chelsea 4/5 and Dundee 4/5 could be winners if they can handle the pressure of being in a must win position. Final table |
