TRANSFER WINDOW NONSENSE

July 11th 2008

I think the media men have decided that whoever Celtic sign it will be for a fee of £3.5 million.

One man and his dog have been linked with a move to the SPL Champions and £3.5 million always seems to be the fee mentioned.

Exceptions are Georgios Samaras who is supposedly on the verge of a permanent move for a fee of £2 million and Shaun Maloney who was reportedly coming back in a swap deal for Lee Naylor.

"My cousin's wife's auntie's mother-in-law has a dug who is friendly with a dug belonging to a bloke who lives two streets away from another dug owned by an agent" is the kind of thing you get during the transfer window.

Almost on a daily basis in the press there are headlines like 'Come And Get Me' or 'Sign Me Celtic' followed by a story about a player who's country didn't do very well at Euro 2008 and who, when asked, says "Yes I have heard of Celtic".

Best quote of the transfer window so far comes from Croatian striker Ivica Olic who is currently with Hamburg and was asked about a move to Liverpool, he said "I can't be bothered to move".
