WOULD THE REAL AIDEN
McGEADY PLEASE STEP FORWARD
September 21st 2008 Former Denmark star Brian Laudrup has said that Aiden McGeady was the player that Aalborg feared most so manager Bruce Rioch would be delighted to find out that he was only on the bench. Really? I am sure Rioch would have done his homework and noted that Maloney was the main threat to his side and not McGeady. Laudrup pointed out that Aiden gave Milan and Barcelona defenders the run-around and he's not wrong there but he has not produced that kind of form since. McGeady was brilliant for three quarters of the season but since the game in the Nou Camp in March right up until now he hasn't produced a man-of-the-match performance. Okay, he has put in some decent performances here and there but he set the standard with his early season form last term and has failed to reproduce it on a regular basis. He had been a real goal threat and had scored eight goals, the last of which came in the 5-1 hammering of Aberdeen which was his best display of the season but since then he has played in twenty-six games without scoring. Maybe being left out the team was exactly what he needed and we might see the real Aiden McGeady once again, hopefully today along with Maloney. I would like to see the pair of them in the side together at the expense of Nakamura who is pretty decent at coming off the bench to change a game.
