LEGEND SID KNOWS HIS HISTORY

October 10th 2008

Legendary darts commentator Sid Waddell  may have inadvertently alienated himself from some of the follow-followers of a Scottish football club by giving viewers a couple of lines of the Rebel song 'Kevin Barry' at last night's World Grand Prix Darts in Dublin.

Waddell, who has a degree in modern history and who's notable quotes include "They are sweating like a couple of swamp donkeys" and "He's got the hand-to-eye coordination of a rattlesnake" was commentating on the match between Canadian World Champion John Part and Dublin's Jacko Barry in the City West Hotel when he came out with a couple of lines from the song which luckily for us were spoken and not sung as I don't think Sid is much of a singer.

Surely nobody would complain about something like that would they? Well you never know because recently fans complained to Coronation Street bosses about this line, "I could no more be interested in Rosie Webster than I could support Glasgow Rangers" which was spoken by Corrie character Tony Gordon.

Because of the complaints ITV received from disgruntled Gers fans the scripts of future episodes were changed.
