DON'T WRITE THE 'TIC OFF
JUST YET
October 22nd 2008 Celtic were horsed 3-0 by Manchester United last night and there is no doubt the home team fully deserved their win but the first goal is always vital and had it not come when it did then who knows what may have happened. Dimitar Berbabtov who could have been a Celtic player if Martin O'Neill had managed to persuade him to join the Hoops was the man who bagged that first goal but as television pictures showed, he should have been flagged offside. That was the first of three Stella moments for the Belgian officials who allowed a second Berbatov offside goal to stand and then unbelievably flagged Wayne Rooney offside when the striker thought he had scored. For Celtic to get anything from that game they were always going to need a lot of luck but it seems that was all used up in the past two Champions League campaigns. Manchester United and Villarreal both have seven points now with Celtic and Aalborg on one point each. It's a difficult but not impossible task for Celtic to win their next three ties, two of which are at Celtic Park but even two wins and a draw could still put the Bhoys through. The Spaniards are in control of their own destiny at this point but a draw in Denmark coupled with a Celtic win against the European Champions at Celtic Park would make things very interesting in the last two games.
