UNITED SNATCH UNDESERVED
POINT
November 6th 2008 The injury ravaged Celts suffered another blow when Aiden McGeady was ruled out before last night's 1-1 Champions League draw with Manchester United to leave the 'tic down to just the bare bones. There was a huge gulf in class between the two sides but United made up for that by battling hard throughout the ninety minutes. Celtic took the lead when Scott McDonald produced a Larsson-esque chip after thirteen minutes and the Bhoys were unlucky not to add to that tally in a first half that saw the visitors battling to keep the score at only one to nil. United were allowed plenty of the ball but were doing little with it and the Holy Goalie was a virtual spectator for the whole of the first half and most of the second. However, the makeshift Celtic side began to tire late in the second half and allowed the European Champions a couple of shots at goal that were comfortably saved by Boruc. The crucial moment in the match came when the visitor's number seven escaped what should have been a red card for a wild kick at Scott Brown then within minutes fired in a speculative shot which Boruc could only parry into the path of Ryan Giggs who headed in the equalising goal. The Premiership side had managed to snatch an undeserved point which keeps their hopes alive of qualifying for the last sixteen stage of the Champions League.
