BORUC ALMOST LIVES THE DREAM

January 29th 2009

Celtic 'keeper Artur Boruc revealed recently that his dream was to score a goal for Celtic but not just any goal, he wanted to score a last minute winner and last night at Hampden in the League Cup semi-final he almost realised that dream.

After a goalless one hundred and twenty minutes and with the penalty shoot-out standing 9-9, Dundee United goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska could have handed Boruc his dream chance if he missed his penalty-kick but the kick was perfectly taken and The Holy Goalie's chance was gone.

With Celtic trailing 10-9 in the shoot-out it was the turn of Boruc to step forward to save the Bhoys from crashing out of the tournament.

Artur duly delivered with a side foot strike high into the United goalkeeper's left hand corner to level it up at 10-10, not quite the dream but the next best thing.

Celtic target Willo Flood was next up with his second spot-kick of the night but after scoring with his first one, he fired this one off the top of the crossbar leaving Scott McDonald the opportunity to fire the Celts into the final with the next kick.

Skippy, who had a poor game overall had scored with Celtic's first penalty-kick and he made no mistake with his second one either, sending Zaluska the wrong way and keeping Celtic on course for the treble.

Artur may yet get his big chance in the final, how good would that be?
