BACK TO FORM SKIPPY 4/1 TO HIT THE NET FIRST

March 7th 2009

It's been a great week for the Celts with a 7-0 hammering of St Mirren last Saturday, the midweek win at Kilmarnock and an Inverness CT win at Ibrox which saw the Bhoys go back to the top of the SPL with a three point advantage.

St Mirren are the opponents again this week but they are the home team this time and this is a Scottish Cup quarter-final so I won't be expecting a repeat of last week's scoreline.

I wouldn't have thought that anyone would have predicted a 7-0 win last week, I for one thought a hard fought 1-0 win might have been on the cards and I'd settle for that today.

Today's tie is live on Sky at 12.15pm. Celtic are on offer generally at 4/11 to win it but Betfred go 4/9.

Best priced first scorer odds are Scott McDonald 4/1 (Paddy Power), Vennegoor of Hesselink 5/1 (Ladbrokes), Samaras 5/1 (Ladbrokes), Hutchinson 8/1 (Ladbrokes), Nakamura 17/2 (Betfred), McGeady 12/1 (Betfair), Scott Brown 12/1 (widely available), Hartley 20/1 (Ladbrokes), Crosas 22/1 (Blue Square).

Correct scores - Celtic to win 1-0 is 6/1 (widely available), 2-0 is 6/1 (Ladbrokes), 3-0 is 8/1 (widely available), 2-1 is 8/1 (Stan James), 3-1 is 12/1 (Skybet), 4-0 is 20/1 (Bluesquare), 4-1 is 28/1 (Skybet, *some others are as low as 14/1), 5-0 is 50/1 (Bluesquare), 5-1 is also 50/1 (widely available).

Paddy Power obviously doesn't think there will be a repeat of last week's score as he offers 325/1 for a 7-0 win while his competitors are as low as 100/1.

As well as McDonald being 4/1 to score first, he's listed at 11/4 to be first Celtic scorer and evens to score at any time in the game.

Skippy is no Henrik Larsson whose odds I remember being as low as 13/8 at times to score first but he is not bad value at 4/1 or probably even better the 11/4 to score Celtic's first.
